Traffic in Klang Valley worsens as 16 LRT stations along Kelana Jaya Line are closed until 15-Nov

Klang Valley folks hoping that the Kelana Jaya LRT Line will be back up and running this morning are dismayed to discover that services are still disrupted. Rapid KL announced that 16 stations along the line will remain closed from today (9-Nov) to 15-November-2022.

This follows yesterday’s announcement that services from the Kelana Jaya Station to the Ampang Park Station was halted due to an issue with the Automatic Train Control (ATC) system. The system has been malfunctioning since Saturday (5-Nov). 

According to a statement released today, Rapid KL has yet to identify the loss of signal between the control centre and the train. This an issue that has never happened before and Rapid KL is working with the original  equipment manufacturer (OEM) Thales Group from Canada, to find short and long-term solutions. This includes tests on existing devices and software. 

Below is the list of train stations that will remain closed until 15-November-2022. Note that this includes all the central KL stations up until Ampang Park along the KJ Line.

To facilitate commuters in the station, Rapid KL has deployed numerous free bus services that will ply between the stations for the next seven days.

Rapid KL has also broken down the bus service into five routes, three of which are direct buses to specific stations while two bus routes will see the bus stopping at every station.

Other than that, Rapid KL has also released a revised operation time for the remaining stations that are not affected by the ATC malfunction. The service will run from 6 am to 11 pm only.

With the train service down for seven days, expect traffic in the Klang Valley to worsen. We can only hope that Rapid KL will be able to rectify the issue sooner than the seven days they have specified.
