Barely a year after its brand launching, Filipino motorcycle and technology startup company Lycan Motorcycles Inc. held an official product unveiling and exhibit at the 1st Freedom Ride Festival last November 25-27, 2022, at the Liwasang Ulalim, CCP Complex in Pasay City. Lycan introduced to the public their very first commercially available product, the Atlas EV scooter.
The Atlas is an electric stand-up scooter with a 50-kilometer range and a top speed of 50 kilometers per hour. It has a price tag of ₱40,000, and Lycan is now accepting orders for the first batch that will be available on December 20, 2022.
At their exhibit, Lycan displayed their prototype motorcycles, including the Bobber and Café Racer. These prototypes were designed using their web-based app, BuilderX platform. Through this app, they plan to offer bespoke motorcycles to their customers by letting them do the design themselves.
Also showcased at the exhibit is Lycan’s proprietary LUNA AI, a voice-based digital AI assistant that serves as the rider’s co-pilot on the road. LUNA scans its surroundings and connects to the internet to provide you with real-time data and information on the fly. With Machine Learning and Rider Behavioral Analytics, LUNA gets to learn more about you and your riding preferences. The more you talk to her, the more she learns to recommend you better solutions and command executions. The LUNA AI will be accessed via the Lycan Smart Helmet that is currently under development.
To date, Lycan’s prototypes are in the mid-stage of development and are expected to hit the local market by 2023. The technology-based manufacturing company is also offering investment opportunities to those who share their vision of an AI-based, rider-centric future of motorcycling.
Do you think AI will make motorcycling safer, or does too much technology take the fun out of the whole riding experience?
