2018 Jaguar XE S Reviews: Feature You Should Know

AutoFun–From the front, the four characteristic bonnet folds, like sculptural art, are a clear demonstration of Jaguar’s world-leading aluminium stamping technology, together with the diamond grille tank guard, large bumper and air inlets, conveying the high-performance sports car heritage of the F-TYPE. As the view extends to the side of the Jaguar Car, the rising waistline extends to the short, sporty rear end, where the aluminium sheeting turns compactly and smoothly.

The unique design details of the British sports car are reflected in the cheetah-eyed HID headlamps with the J Blade LED daytime running lights, the chrome-plated side cooling fins inherited from the F-TYPE and the recognisable horizontal lines and semi-circular structure of the LED rear lights. The sporty, streamlined shape, 1200 hydrodynamic simulations and over 4 million hours of processor calculations have resulted in the lowest wind resistance in Jaguar history of 0.26 Cd. This superb aerodynamic performance is not only a realisation of the design aesthetics, but also strikes the optimum balance between reducing air resistance and maintaining downforce on the car, maintaining efficient performance without compromising driving pleasure.

The XE’s all-aluminium sports chassis provides greater lateral strength and improved anti-roll performance, as well as better grip and road feedback, and the same all-aluminium front twin A-arm suspension system as the F-TYPE for top-level handling, while the rear suspension features an all-aluminium one-piece independent multi-link design that provides excellent lateral and longitudinal strength and sports-grade camber The majority of components are made of cast aluminium or hollow aluminium, minimising underspring loads, which means less weight and less load on the suspension, while improving driving dynamics and sensitivity.

To realise the Jaguar sports car design philosophy of delivering driving dynamics within 50 metres, the XE incorporates the latest generation of EPAS electronic power assisted steering. The F-TYPE-equivalent TVbB brake control torque conversion system is fitted as standard across the entire range. When understeer occurs due to excessive speed in a corner, the inner wheels are slightly braked to compensate for the understeer and the power output is transferred to the outer wheels at the same time, so that the car not only stays on the best line in the corner, but also achieves the ultimate in dynamic performance with mid-corner refuelling and acceleration. The new ASPC all-terrain start system, a low-speed cruise control system that operates between 3.6km/h and 30km/h, significantly improves safety on difficult roads and helps the driver to focus on the handling of the vehicle.

The interior of the XE is also designed with the same exquisite craftsmanship of the British sports car, with a wide range of top quality leather from England and Italy that is as soft and natural to the touch as a glove, with contrasting double-needle stitching for a detailed feel, and a choice of standard or more enveloping sports seats. The centre console dashboard is wrapped in a circular pod design to create an F-TYPE-like feeling of space, and the chrome air vents are wrapped in a full chrome wrap around the dashboard to extend the visual aspect and create a more spacious feel. The three-spoke leather sports steering wheel, derived from the F-TYPE design, is comfortable to grip and the recognisable sports-style dual-ring instrumentation creates a performance sports car-like driving atmosphere.
