Orbi Color Codes: Ring LED

The ring LED is usually located on the top panel of your Netgear Orbi router (depending upon the model you are using):

Pulsing white: Your Netgear Orbi router is booting or you have mistakenly pressed the Sync button. To fix it, unplug your Orbi device, disconnect it from satellite, wait for a few minutes, and then plug it back in again. This process is called power cycling.

Off: The Orbi device is finished booting. Now, it is working as expected. Using its WiFi, you are now ready to stream videos from any corner of your house.

Solid white: The Orbi’s router is resetting back to factory default values. Once it gets reset, you have to perform the Orbi setup process from the scratch via orbilogin.net.

Solid magenta: Your Netgear device failed to connect to the internet. Regarding this, we advise you immediately get in touch with your internet service provider and request to fix the slow internet issue.

Satellite Ring LED

The ring LED is also located on the top panel of your Orbi satellite:

Pulsing white: Netgear Orbi’s satellite is booting up. Wait till the process gets completed.

Flashing Blue for 2-3 minutes: Orbi blue light indicates that the connection between the satellite and Netgear Orbi router is good enough.

The ring LED is amber for 2-3 minutes: Amber light on the Orbi satellite means that the connection between the satellite and the router is fair but not good.

Magenta: The satellite and Netgear Orbi router failed to sync with each other.

Off: The satellite synced to your Netgear Orbi router successfully. Now, you can start using the Orbi’s WiFi as the Orbi and satellite is working smoothly.

Power LED

The Power LED is located on the rear panel on the Power On/Off button:

Solid green: Netgear Orbi router is powered on and ready to provide you uninterrupted internet connectivity.

Solid amber: Well, the solid amber means that your router or satellite is any one among it is booting.

Blinking amber: Blinking amber LED means that your router or satellite is resetting to factory default settings and you have to configure it again using default Orbi login username and password.

Blinking red: Netgear Orbi router’s firmware is corrupted or damaged. For fixing it, reset the device and perform the firmware update process again.

Off: A proper power is not being supplied to your Netgear Orbi router or the wall socket is damaged.

Add-on satellite Ring LED

Note: The optional add-on satellites are sold separately. You can add the ad-on satellite to your Orbi’s WiFi network. The ring LED is located on the top of the Orbi’s satellite.

Pulsing white: It means that the Orbi’s satellite is booting up.

Solid white: The solid white LED indicates that the satellite is ready to sync with router. To sync/ connect them successfully, press and hold the sync button for a few seconds, and release it.

LED is blue for 3-4 minutes: synchronization or connection between the satellite and the router is pretty good.

Amber for 3-4 minutes: The connection between the satellite and Orbi router is fair enough.

Solid Magenta: The satellite is unable to connect to the satellite. To deal with it, disconnect them, wait for some time, and connect them again. This process is called rebooting.

Off: Orbi and satellite both are synced. Now, you are all set to use them.

Power LED

The Netgear Orbi’s Power LED is located adjacent to the power port on the rear panel of the device (depending upon the model you have).

Solid green: The Orbi router is getting sufficient power from its respective power socket.

Solid amber: Netgear Orbi’s satellite is rebooting. Wait till it completes booting.

Blinking amber: The satellite is reset. After the reset process, it is crucial to perform Orbi setup process again.

Blinking red: Firmware version on the device is corrupted. Restart your device and thereafter, perform the firmware update process again.

Off: Your Netgear Orbi is not on power. Ensure to plug in the device properly.
