Fresh from our test drive experience of the Ora Good Cat just a couple of weeks ago, we’ve caught the rotund electric vehicle (EV) again at the Malaysia Motor Expo 2022 that’s going on at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
The event – taking place from today, 11-Nov to Sunday 13-Nov, 10 am to 10 pm – pits all kind of cars, new and old, stock and modified, under one roof. More can be read below.

Anyway, back to the Cat on hand. Great Wall Motor (GWM) has two units on show there, and they certainly don’t need to claw through to get attention. Pre-bookings are open today, which could also be one of the many reasons why it’s pulling the crowds.
On variants and specification, there’ll be four to choose from, at least following the preliminary leaks we put out in early July. Your pick of the litter will either have a 400 km or 500 km NEDC-rated range, supplemented by a 48 kWh LiPo battery or a 63 kWh ternery lithium one, giving more range.

No catfights over the electric motors as they’re equal between variants; a sensible 143 PS and 210 Nm powering the front wheels (FWD). Kit count differs of course, but niceties like LED headlamps, and an expansive digital instrument cluster plus infotainment screen are available rangewide.
Going up the scratch totem post gains buyers comfort features like powered seats (with massage and ventilation), a sunroof, more speakers, and also ADAS. Prices are still unclear at the time of writing, but GWM pegs them between RM 140k to RM 160k. Their site lists ‘deliveries to begin in Q4 2022’, and we’re deep into November now, so it should be soon if this timeline is still stuck to.
Oh, we said we’ve driven it already, so is it as promising as it looks? Find out below.
